My father and father-in-law had a very positive impact on my life, and it was extremely important to me to let them know in a concrete way how much I respected and admired them. Both men had a high regard for a college education, but neither was able to avail himself of one. Through the purchase of a charitable gift annuity to create a scholarship in their names, I was able to express my esteem for them, appreciation for the scholarship help I myself received while at Rochester, and also obtain a guaranteed income for life and an immediate charitable income tax deduction.
