Personal StoriesI am most fortunate to have received two degrees from the University of Rochester. Having graduated from the College with an undergraduate degree in engineering, followed by my attending the Medical School, I have a unique perspective on Rochester and the educational opportunities both schools provided me. Most important was the empathy the professors/instructors demonstrated towards their students. Being in a small school, with its own sense of community, made for a very positive experience. I am forever grateful toward both the College and the Medical School. Because of my strong feelings, I have been a donor to the University of Rochester for many years. However, as market conditions changed, as well as my own portfolio, I found myself seeking different investment opportunities in order to accomplish my personal goals as well as my philanthropic endeavors. I really wanted to do something special for both the College and the Medical School. It so happens that a gift annuity, with the College and the Medical School receiving an equal share of the gift, was the perfect solution. I received an instant tax deduction for my gift. In addition, I receive annuity payments that are guaranteed. I couldn't find a better way to accomplish all of my goals. Thank you U of R for a terrific education and also for assisting me in my retirement years. Dr. Raymond Schneider '48, '52 MD |
