I am most fortunate to have received two degrees from the University of Rochester. Having graduated from the College with an undergraduate degree in engineering, followed by my attending the Medical School, I have a unique perspective on Rochester and the educational opportunities both schools provided me. Most important was the empathy the professors/instructors demonstrated towards their students. Being in a small school, with its own sense of community, made for a very positive experience. I am forever grateful toward both the College and the Medical School.
Because of my strong feelings, I have been a donor to the University of Rochester for many years. However, as market conditions changed, as well as my own portfolio, I found myself seeking different investment opportunities in order to accomplish my personal goals as well as my philanthropic endeavors. I really wanted to do something special for both the College and the Medical School. It so happens that a gift annuity, with the College and the Medical School receiving an equal share of the gift, was the perfect solution. I received an instant tax deduction for my gift. In addition, I receive annuity payments that are guaranteed. I couldn't find a better way to accomplish all of my goals. Thank you U of R for a terrific education and also for assisting me in my retirement years.
